My First Game Jam Summer 2021 - Day 2 of Jam


Second day of Jam has been decently productive programming wise. I have been able to properly get the project running. I got some test assets up and made a good platformer player controller, which can move left and right, can jump and double jump(can be enabled and disabled based on certain conditions), and that has a camera controller that will follow the player around with in the cameras extents. A system for switching rooms has been made so that when the player passes through a door, they will be brought to another room. We want to do transitions, but the people who have been doing art have been quite busy today, so not much progress has been made on that front. I tried to make a slide, but in the process i slightly broke the player character so for now i am keeping the edits to the player character on a different github branch till I can figure that out, but its not a essential feature. Last thing we did was get a Dialogue system working so that we could do some simple story stuff. We are using the Dialogic Godot plugin to accomplish this, to save some time, and its quite helpful. we have a basic dialogue that can be triggered and that can fade away easily.  Overall has been a pretty busy day for everyone, but also been quite productive on the technical side.  Things I would like to get done in the very near future is fully integrate some npc bases, make some enemies and decide upon a combat system. The whole team has been busy today, so hopefully all of us will be more available so we can knock out some of the art stuff as well. So far the project is going quite well, and we are on our way to make a nice small metroidvania
